HOW DO I TAKE CARE OF MY NEW TATTOO?

INITIAL TATTOO AFTERCARE:
Carefully remove and discard your bandage after 2-3 hours.
You will not need to re-bandage your tattoo.

Wash your tattoo gently but thoroughly with your hand using a mild anti-bacterial soap (Dial) and warm water.

Pat your tattoo dry with a clean towel, then let air dry for 15-20 minutes.

Apply a thin layer of fragrance-free Curel hand lotion, and gently massage it into your tattoo until it is completely absorbed.

FOR THE FIRST 2 WEEKS:
Always make sure your hands are clean before handling your healing tattoo.

Wash your tattoo twice a day. Once in the morning, and once at night. Keep your tattoo clean. Avoid any exposure to dirt, animal hair, pet dander, etc.

Avoid submerging your tattoo under water (swimming, baths, hot tubs, etc.) until your tattoo is completely healed. Showering is fine.

Apply lotion to your tattoo 2-3 times daily.

Within the first week your tattoo will begin to peel, flake, or scab.
This is part of the healing process. Do not pick or scratch at your tattoo.

Avoid wearing tight clothing over your tattoo, and allow it to get plenty of oxygen.

Keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight. Once fully healed use sunblock (SPF 45-50) to keep your tattoo solid and vibrant.

Do not take advice from your friends regarding the care or healing of your tattoo.

Initial healing time is 10-14 days. Your tattoo should be completely healed after 6 weeks.

Please call us at 301.652.0494 with any questions or concerns.
