The shop is located at 8227 Woodmont Ave, in Bethesda. We're directly across the street from the parking garage on Woodmont Avenue at the Woodmont and Rugby Avenue Garage.

We are open for business seven days a week:
Monday-Saturday 12 PM - 8 PM
Sunday 12 PM - 6 PM
Do you accept credit cards or checks?
We accept cash and all credit cards including Amex, Discover, MasterCard and Visa. Sorry no checks.
Can I get tattooed or pierced if I am under 18?
Yes. We will provide most services for those 16 years of age and older.
Anyone under 18 years of age must provide a state-issued picture I.D. (i.e. driver's license, military I.D, or passport). An original birth certificate( or a Certified copy SEE- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Certified_copy) along with a photo school I.D. is also acceptable. A parent or legal guardian must accompany those under 18, and provide a state-issued picture I.D. as well. Either last names and/or addresses of minor and parent/guardian have to match on I.D. All identification documents must be original copies, no photocopies accepted. There are no exceptions on our I.D. policy. If you have any questions concerning theses policies call the studio PRIOR to your visit.
Do I have to make an appointment for a tattoo or piercing?
Appointments are preferred but Walk-ins are aways welcome, and are done on a first come, first served basis. Please call for availability. Call the studio to set up a free consultation for your next tattoo. Appointments are necessary for larger/custom tattoo work. Body Piercing is mostly walk in. Appointments aren't necessary but clients are more than welcome to schedule a specific day and time for their piercing.
Can I make a tattoo appointment over the phone?
Bethesda Tattoo does not allow appointments to be made over the phone. All appointments require a deposit that must be made in person. NO EXCEPTIONS. Deposits go toward the final price of your tattoo. We are also unable to quote tattoos over the phone. To receive a quote for your work, stop by the shop with any images/references or simply an idea and we will be happy to give you an accurate quote.
What is your cancellation policy?
Bethesda Tattoo has a strict 48 hour cancellation policy. If you would like to cancel/reschedule your appointment, we require 48 hours to the time of your appointment for your deposit to remain valid. 48 hours notice is required, but we request more notice if at all possible. NO EXCEPTIONS on cancellation policy. If you can't make your appointment and don't show up, your deposit is forfeited and any future appointments will have to be paid in full.
Can I have a consultation with an artists before putting down a deposit for my tattoo?
Absolutely!! We encourage our patrons to set up consults with the artist of their choice before setting up an actual appointment. Call the shop at your convenience to set up your free consultation today!
What is your refund policy?
Bethesda Tattoo does not offer refunds for any service or product.
Does getting a tattoo hurt?
Yep, getting tattooed does hurt. How much pain that's involved is dependant on the area of the body being tattooed, and the pain tolerance and mindset of the individual.
Do you re-use your tattoo needles or inks?
No! All needles are single use only. All needles and tubes are sealed and autoclaved in sterile bags prior to use. Needles are immediately discarded into a sharps container after a tattoo is finished. All is ink is poured into disposable caps, and then discarded after use.
Can I bring in my own designs?
Absolutely. Although we have a wide variety of designs on hand to choose from, you are more than welcome to bring in your own designs, and reference. Our tattoo artists are experienced in doing high-quality custom work, therefore, if you are need of creative help to design your tattoo, we are here to help.
How much does getting a tattoo cost?
There are several factors involved with the pricing of a tattoo, including how large the design, how much detail is involved, and the area of the body being tattooed. The minimum price for a tattoo is $80 and goes up from there. Single session tattoos are individually priced. Multiple session work is $175 an hour.
Do I need to make an appointment to get a tattoo?
Walk-ins are welcome, and are done on a first come, first served basis. Please call for availability. Appointments are necessary for larger/custom tattoo work. All tattoo appointments require a minimum $100 deposit that must be made in person. Deposits go toward the final price of your tattoo. Also, in order for a tattoo artist to give a price/time estimate they must be able see the design and area of the body to be tattooed in front of them. If you have left a deposit with an open appointment date, then you may schedule time over the phone.
How should I prepare before I get tattooed?
Be rested, and have something to eat before coming in. Do not drink alcohol, take illegal drugs, or ingest aspirin prior to your tattoo. Alcohol and aspirin are blood thinners and will promote excessive bleeding during your tattoo. We will not tattoo you if you are drunk, high, or evidently hungover.
Can I have an old/poor tattoo reworked or covered up?
Generally an old/poor tattoo can be re-worked or covered up. Please set up a complimentary consult to speak with one of our tattoo artists about what you have and what you would like done.
Do y'all do Tattoo Parties?
We do not do tattoo parties, in or out of the shop. None of our artists do housecalls in any situation.
Should I tip my tattoo artist?
Feel free to tip your tattoo artist. Tips are not necessary, but are always appreciated. Remember, the full cost of your tattoo does not all go to your artist, so please feel free to be generous.
How should I care for my new tattoo?
- Remove bandage after 2-3 hours of receiving your new tattoo.
- With clean hands, gently wash your tattoo with fragrance free soap and warm water (Dial and Softsoap are recommended.)
- Allow tattoo to air dry for 15 minutes...
How painful is getting a piercing?
How much pain that's involved is dependent on the area of the body being pierced, and the pain tolerance and mindset of the individual. The actual piercing process takes about a second, so while it may hurt, it will usualy only hurt for the second your are being pierced
